Air Show Cancelled for 2012

Press release: June 27, 2012

Peoria, IL – Prairie Air Show, Inc. regrettably announces they will not be hosting an air show on the Riverfront this year. Prairie Air Show officials apologize for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause.

Air show officials had high hopes and expectations for the opportunity to provide the show as a free event on the Riverfront. However, after months of planning and preparation, officials diligently sought but ultimately failed to come to a budgetary solution. “We are deeply disappointed we will not be able to bring the air show to the more than 50,000 people of Central Illinois who look forward to attending the show every year with their families,” said Brett Krause, Director of Prairie Air Show, Inc.

For the past few months, air show officials and city officials from both Peoria and East Peoria had been working diligently to develop a plan that would be beneficial for all parties and the community. However, it was eventually determined that a reasonable plan could not be developed in time to realistically reschedule and organize the show on a new date.

Prairie Air Show, Inc. will continue to look for options to bring an air show to Central Illinois in 2013. An announcement will be made as soon as details are determined. “We are committed to bring an air show to Central Illinois. The mission of our non-for-profit organization is to bring a high quality air show for all ages and allow opportunities for the community to participate, learn about, and experience past and present aircraft,” said Krause.

The 2012 air show would have been the 28th consecutive show produced by Prairie Air Show.
